One minute you have all of your life ahead of you, are full of hope and anticipation as you start studying for A Levels. You listen intently to Bob Dylan’s ‘The Times They Are A-Changing’, but that is now ten years old and you have already worn out your second copy of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’.  As you listen to the track ‘Time” you hear the words….

“And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.  No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun”

…. and you wonder, ‘where will I be in ten years time?’ at that age it seems more than half a lifetime away.

You do a degree, get into accountancy, discover that getting married and  buying a house means moving out of a comfortable semi-rural environment into an old run-down Victorian back-to-back in an area where you feel anything other than comfortable and you get clobbered with 15% interest a year for the pleasure of it.

You become financial controller of an engineering company in which you have bought a share, moved house and then….. divorce.
